We had a lovely shoot at the Cambridge Good-sheds on the 27 June 2013. These beautiful girls were such a pleasure to photograph and the images captured from beginning to end were just unbelievable. Having girls who are up and keen for anything always makes it so easy for us to just let our creative juices flow …
We started the shoot around 3pm in the afternoon, which allowed the lighting to be superb! We first utilized the old trains and railway lines which make interesting photographs through their old run-down appearance and different types of textures.
We also catered for a few minutes of the images to be captured in the long grass, when the sun is setting and just clips the grass, giving that warm golden Summer glow.

As I begin to write this blog about our gypsy themed photo shoot we had this past Friday ( 3rd May 2013) I am filled with immense excitement. Photo shoots like these are what really get the creative juices flowing, as each image captured holds a uniqueness within it.
What really allowed this photo shoot to prosper and reach its full potential were the three beautiful girls who were up for anything, as well as talented photographer Jean Paul and as ‘lighting or flash girl’ I like to think I played some part in these magnificent images which were captured.
The photo shoot was held at the ‘broken building’ on the way out to Cinsta and as it was my first time accompanying Jean Paul to this location, I could really appreciate the beauty that photographers see in this unique set-up. There are numerous settings to choose from this location such as magnificent trees, long meadow grass (which captures the sunlight perfectly when caught at the right time), as well as a old run downed building surrounded by long grass and flowers.
The particular theme ‘gypsy’ really suited this location, as both came across quite relaxed and free spirited. The weather also played a role, as the cloud coverage helped to eliminate any harsh shadows from the sun. Although it was a windy day, it did seem to cooperate and only add to the images.

What an amazing three days of shooting it has been with Saprotex…
On Thursday (17 January) we started off with immense energy starting our Winter wear shoot at 8am and visited destinations like Lilyfontein (a stunning horse farm) and then on to the East London Harbour.

Our Friday (18 January) shoot started at 1pm and was followed by more Winter wear, which started at the Hemingway’s Casino and then ended at the Nahoon River.

On Monday (20 January) we ended off with little cuties (toddlers) in our studio and then Cove Rock in the late afternoon, with those images used specifically for the Purl Magazine.

Although we had intense Summer weather to fight through, everything felt like a breeze of fresh air when working with the Saprotex team. The models involved made everyone’s job extremely easy and the locations used definitely added the x-factor to the overall outcome of our success on this shoot.

No one enjoys a Monday morning, the day begins with most people still trying to
get out of weekend mode and into work mode…however we here at Jean Paul Photography had an early start to our Monday morning.
Saprotex/ Elle yarns were ready and geared up for their Spring and Summer Range photo shoot. We met the design team and models bright and early at Floradale Nursery to begin with the shoot for their new and exciting range.
The venue for the shoot was Floradale Nursery, the location being in a league of its own. This family run business is well established in both East London and Port Elizabeth. The owners were very generous, as they allowed us to make use of the entire venue for the photo shoot. This was fantastic, as there are gardens growing all over the place and we wanted to make sure the photographs reflected a lifestyle look but also had a variety of backgrounds.
Floradale is alive with all sorts of little critters buzzing around and lush gardens everywhere, a clear indication that Summer is on the way. With all kinds of plants, greenery and beautiful flowers growing wildly in some places and neatly in others, this venue is definitely going to be busy during the Summer months.
