1. Tell me about yourself and what you do for a living? What are your hobbies?
I live a very simple life that involves my job as a professional photographer (Jean Paul Photography), my hobbies which includes surfing with friends and spending quality time with my family.
2. What is the one thing you know for sure about life?
You have to make yourself happy!
3. What is your favourite TV program?
Don’t really have one but enjoy The Apprentice.
4. What is your favourite colour?
Don’t really have one but like black.
5. How would you describe yourself in three words?
Grateful, happy, faithful.
6. What do you think about the democracy of this country?
I let the politicians deal with the politics.
7. Any plans in store for this year 2008?
Be successful at everything I do. Which includes growing my photography business, Jean Paul Photography.
8. How would you invest 1 million rand?
I’d put it back into my business.
9. What is the one thing you can’t live without?
God.
10. Would you speak or mentor your children about HIV/ AIDS?
Yes.
11. How would you describe your most fun or ideal weekend?
On and isolated beach with a couple of friends, my camera and my surfboard.
12. If you were given a chance to re-live your life, what would you do differently?
I’d probably live it exactly the same way. I like the hand that was dealt!
13. Any words of encouragement to the young and up-coming leaders of tomorrow?
Be confident and know that you will only truly succeed, if you enjoy what you do.
14. Who do you look up to as your mentor?
Rob Pollock, as I was his photographer for over ten years.
15. What makes you get out of bed in the morning?
The sun!
16. What makes your life sparkle?
Seeing the appreciation on a clients face when they enjoy their images that I’ve taken.
17. What is the one thing people don’t know about you?
I got my skydiving licence.
18. What sport do you support? Why?
Surfing, because it is my true passion. Tennis, because I used to play a lot.
19. Have you ever had a crush on someone, or loved someone who doesn’t like you?
No, that would be pretty pointless!
20. What car do you drive? Is it your dream car? What is it?
I mainly drive what I would call my dream vehicle which is my BMW F650 Motorcycle.
21. Do you budget or just have enough money to spend?
I do budget but think it’s good to spend at times, when you can. After all, what’s the point of earning money if you can’t enjoy the pleasures of spending it!
22. What was your childhood like? Please elaborate
It was very much like the way my life is currently. I often kept to myself. Had few friends, but really good ones that I could rely on. Was more artistic than I was academic. Had two parents that I respected, a brother that I looked up to and a sister that meant the world to me.
23. What makes your blood boil?
Mosquitoes!!!
24. If you could go back in time, which era would you choose and why?
I would have to say when the camera was invented. That surely would have been exciting times.
25. If you were to meet the SA President, what would you say to him?
I’ve met him twice now and both times I asked him if I could take his photo.
